Bipasha Basu signs up for 4D film 'Raaz 3'

Posted by pawon on Monday, August 22, 2011

Bipasha Basu has signed up for Raaz 3 with Mukesh Bhatt.

The actress, who first rose to fame with Vikram Bhatt's Jism and Raaz had reportedly angered the directors after she turned down the lead role in Mukesh Bhatt's last film Murder 2.

According to Mid Day, Mukesh Bhatt said: "It is a homecoming for both Bipasha and Vikram. Yes, we did have issues earlier but, in a family, there are always different points of view that arise till the members realise that amendments need to be made.

"This is where they started and this film brought recognition to both Vikram and Bipasha," he added.

When asked how the collaboration came about, Mukesh Bhatt explained: "Being in the same business, we keep bumping into each other. Bipasha expressed a desire to work with us again and she loved the Raaz 3 script. It is a very challenging and powerful role for her."

Vikram Bhatt, who will be directing the film, said: "Bipasha is a very important part of the team that created Raaz as a brand. I am happy to be working with her again and hope to create the same magic with the already heady pair of Emi (Emraan Hashmi) and Jackie (Jacqueline Fernandez)."

Basu said she was looking forward to filming the role: "I have a long and fruitful relationship with Vishesh films. I am very fond of both Maheshji and Mukeshji.

"They have given me two of my best films, of which Raaz, my second movie, was a golden jubilee hit. It was only a matter of time before we worked together.

"My role in Raaz 3 seems to be a very challenging one and the director is not only very good at his craft, but has also been a friend for a long time.

"The thought of working with my own people gives me a high. It is a terrific combination." Enjoy the beautyful pictures of Bipasha

Bipasha Basu bags her first Hollywood project

Posted by pawon on Saturday, November 6, 2010

After sizzling on Bollywood screen for almost a decade, dusky beauty Bipasha Basu has signed her first international project -- English-French director Roland Joffé's "Singularity".
The 31-year-old is extremely excited and admits she does have butterflies in her stomach.

"I am very excited...but have to admit that I am also a little nervous. Everything happened really fast," Bipasha told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Bipasha met Joffe in a chance encounter at the Taj Land's End Hotel in Mumbai in September.

The $33 million movie, written by Ajey Jhankar, is a riveting tale of an impossible love set across two time periods and continents.

It is set in the backdrop of the First Anglo-Maratha War of the 18th century and revolves around four characters - a British officer in colonial India and the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his researcher lover -- who gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.

The film will be shot in Australia and India. Bipasha will be flying to Brisbane in the first week of November.

Bipasha, who will be missing Diwali for the initial rehearsals for the film, says she would have loved to get some more time to prepare for her role.

"I am not getting much of preparation time right now. I have been given just eight days to prepare for underwater scenes and horse riding...I wish I had at least a month's time for preparation," she said.

As much as she would have liked to, Bipasha is also not getting much time to brush up on her history.

"There is just no time before I fly out! I have finished all my pending endorsement assignments and now I will try and grasp whatever I can there itself," she said.

Nevertheless, she is looking forward to working with Hollywood actors.

"The script is fantastic. They have a lot of expertise in their field...it's going to be a whole lot of hard work, and it's going to be great fun to adapt to their system of working," she said.

"Singularity" also stars Bollywood actor Abhay Deol besides Hollywood stars Chris Pine, Josh Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Egan and Shane Briant, among others.

Bipasha will shoot from the third week of November till the last week of December in Brisbane.

Her upcoming Indian projects include "Dum Maaro Dum" and Abbas-Mustan's "Players".

Bipasha is glad that Abbas-Mustan, who gave her a launchpad with 2001 film "Ajnabee", were accommodating enough to adjust their dates so that she could give her nod to "Singularity".

The film is tentatively slated for a 2011 release.

John Abraham reveals Bipasha Basu’s weakness!

Posted by pawon on Monday, October 18, 2010

For eight years, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu have been committed to each other romantically. There’s apparently a secret behind this long-lasting love.

While promoting his film Jhootha Hi Sahi on the show ‘Emotional Atyachar’ John got candid when asked about the reason behind his rock-steady relationship with Bipasha.

John revealed that whenever he does something wrong, Bipasha keeps forgetting it as she has short memory. He obviously did not go as far as to elaborate what ‘wrongs’ he had done.

John also spoke about the art of lying to make a relationship work. In Jhootha Hi Sahi he plays a character who’s an irrevocable liar.

John and Bipasha began dating in 2002. Since then their relationship has seen rare downs and has mostly been steady.

Bipasha Basu as femme fatale in ‘The Italian Job’ remake

Posted by pawon

Bipasha Basu’s wish to do an action role has been fulfilled. The lady has bagged a plum role in Abbas-Mastan’s Hindi remake of the 2003 Hollywood thriller ‘The Italian Job’.

Just recently, Bipasha had expressed her itching desire to do an action role after a spate of serious, character-based roles in her recent films. Well, the wish has been granted. She will reportedly play a femme fatale in the movie titled Players which will be the official remake of The Italian Job.

From what we learn, the makers of the film saw the rushes of Rohan Sippy’s upcoming film Dum Maaro Dum which has Bipasha playing a Goan junkie. Moreover, Bipasha’s spunky performance in Dhoom 2 was also in their mind.

Players will have Bipasha sharing screen space with actors like Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bobby Deol.

It will be a full-on action film revolving around a heist, with loads of stunts, pyrotechnics and, needless to say, unexpected twists and turns in the plot.

Bipasha Basu has fear of flying

Posted by pawon on Thursday, October 14, 2010

Bipasha Basu is so scared of flying that she refused to board a chartered plane with her Aakrosh co-stars.
While Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna and producer Kumar Mangat travelled from Mumbai to Jaipur on the six-seater plane, Basu chose to take a larger aircraft instead.

"I am a nervous flier and hate travelling in the monsoons because rough weather is at its peak then," she said.
"Ajay and Kumarji told me that there are perks to travelling in a chartered flight but I prefer normal aircrafts! They had even saved me a seat but I came back with my staff."

After avoiding small planes for nine years, Basu reluctantly joined the others when they took a chartered flight earlier in July. However, she vowed not to fly in light aircraft again when turbulence led to a difficult journey.

Basu, Devgn film gets adult certificate

Posted by pawon

Bipasha Basu and Ajay Devgn's new release Aakrosh has received an 'A' certificate.
Director Priyadarshan is reported to have been given a list of suggested cuts by the Indian Censor board, relating to the film's political violence and adult language, reports PTI.

Producer Kumar Mangat told the news agency: "They wanted us to make more than a dozen-odd cuts due to these factors. If we would have consented to that, Aakrosh would have got a U/A certificate."

Although most production houses strive to avoid getting an adult rating, Mangat explained why in this case it was preferable.

"Aakrosh wasn't designed as a kiddie flick in any case. This is a dramatic affair and inspired by related stories. It was not the best case scenario but still, given the circumstances, it is okay."

The hard-hitting project, which also features Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal and Reema Sen, releases October 15.

I have a boyfriend who is very strong

Posted by pawon

Bipasha Basu is itching to do action roles. While her latest film "Aakrosh" is about honour killings where she plays her most fragile character yet, the actress says in real life she is fit enough to beat her boyfriend John Abraham's energy levels.

"I want to do action. I think I am too fit at this point in time and that is a zone that I have not tapped fully and in India we don't have too many films where the woman gets to do action. Hopefully, somewhere I see that I will be able to realize something that I want very soon. So I'm just crossing my fingers, " Bipasha told in an interview.

The 31-year-old has one of the most well-toned bodies among Bollywood actresses.

"I feel girls should be (physically) strong, it's very important. I have a boyfriend who is very strong; so I should match at least 30 percent of his strength.

"Now my energy level is much more than him, I can beat his energy levels in 20 minutes, " revealed Bipasha, who also released a fitness DVD "Bipasha Basu: Love Yourself" earlier this year.

After starting her career with the 2001 film "Ajnabee", Bipasha, who was initially a model, went on to do films like "Aankhen", "Jism", "Raaz", "No Entry", "Corporate", "Race" and "All The Best".

Tagged as 'sexy' and 'glamour girl', Bipasha surprised everyone when she decided to do the issue-based film "Lamhaa" and flaunt a no make-up look. She is repeating the same in her new release "Aakrosh". Directed by Priyadarshan, it is about honour killings and also stars Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna.

"In the film, I play Geeta who loves Ajay Devgn but is not allowed to marry him because he is from a lower caste. She is married off to Paresh Rawal. In the film, I lead a very sad life. This is by far the saddest role that I've ever done. I actually pity the life of women who go through this.

"My character in the film goes through marital abuse, she gets continuously beaten up and abused by her husband. She has no happiness left. She is not married to the man she loves. Basically she is more or less a dead person.

"That's why Geeta has no makeup, her saris are very normal. She doesn't even do her hair properly. She is by far the most vulnerable, weak, fragile role that I have ever played, " she added.

Bipasha maintains she is not a method actor and leaves her character on the sets.

"I'm not a method actor, I don't even take it after the cut. I'm an instinctive actor because I learnt on the job. I never wanted to be an actor when I did my first film. so for me it is all instinctive.

"If you make me rehearse too much, I'll be like a robot, I'll be mechanical. So, I don't belong to the method school of acting and I don't understand it because to me they all sound mad."

Bipasha talks Sex

Posted by pawon on Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Last weekend, Bipasha Basu answered racy questions about her boyfriend John Abraham.

Watch out for when host Koel Purie asked bluntly, "Have you learnt how to ride a bike? Or are you still riding John?" Any other actress would have stormed off or asked for a cut, but not Bips. She guffaws, "For me the bikes remain a distant fantasy, not John." Touche Bipasha.

The Aakrosh actress also happily discussed John's butt. Did she mind that so many women lusted after her object of affection? Did it make her insecure that even Abhishek Bachchan wanted to pinch the derriere?

No, says Bips, adding that it's his own fault for flaunting it to the nation.

Besides a good butt is important for girls and boys, she says, and you can't be sexy without one. Bips also doesn't shy away from mentioning how much she has spent on her dream home.

Meanwhile, in Couch Cares, meet five-year-old Babu, who's dream is to go to school, become a doctor and open a hospital for the poor. But the boy was born with a defective leg and half a functioning heart. He's undergone one heart surgery, but needs another one and a surgery for his leg. Do open your hearts and wallet for him.

Ranaut and Basu 'no longer friends'

Posted by pawon on Sunday, September 19, 2010

Kangna Ranaut has allegedly fallen out with director Anurag Basu.

The actress has worked with Basu on a number of projects, including Life In A Metro and Gangster.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Ranaut is unhappy with the type of roles she is being asked to play in the director's films.

"Ranaut still cares for Basu. But he has been really unfair to her. You don't consider people as your lucky mascot, but in return give them a raw deal," a source claimed.

"There is much more to Ranaut than playing only demented females. She has it in her to display a gamut of emotions."

The star is also reported to have felt disappointed with the editing of Kites, which left her with minimal screen time.

Bipasha will take pay cut on social films

Posted by pawon on Saturday, September 18, 2010

Bipasha Basu will reportedly reduce her fee on films with a social message.

The model-turned-actress revealed that she is prepared to take a pay cut to act in socially relevant projects.

"That's the only way they can work. I will reduce my price for similar films," Basu commented.

Despite the poor box office performance of her last realistic film, the star will follow up Lamhaa with similar project Aakrosh.

"If Lamhaa had been made for the price of an Udaan or a Tere Bin Laden, it would have been a hit," she said.

Basu has agreed to establish an NGO for Kashmiri orphans with Lamhaa co-star Sanjay Dutt and director Rahul Dholakia.
