LOS ANGELES: Actress Lindsay Lohan was released from home detention on Wednesday after spending 35 days at her Los Angeles apartment for stealing a gold necklace, authorities said.
A private company that handles monitoring equipment for home detention inmates removed the electronic ankle bracelet from the "Mean Girls" star on Wednesday morning, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.
Lohan was sentenced in May to 120 days in jail, but the 24 year-old actress qualified for a shorter period of house arrest under programs for nonviolent offenders and to reduce overcrowding in Los Angeles jails.
Lohan, a former child star, pleaded no contest in May to the theft of a $2,500 gold necklace from a Los Angeles boutique. She had walked out of the store wearing the jewelry.
Her once promising Hollywood career has been derailed because of repeated run-ins with the law and trips to rehabilitation to deal with drug and alcohol problems.
Nevertheless, she is due to start filming a movie about New York crime boss John Gotti later this year with co-stars John Travolta and Al Pacino.
Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, who showed up three weeks early at Los Angeles' Lynwood Jail, is now under house arrest.
Contactmusic.com reports that she was immediately determined eligible to serve her time at home, so she was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet Thursday and released.
She is now at her home in Venice, California, but cannot leave until June 29.
"She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times," said Steve Whitmore, the Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman.
The actress was last month ordered to to undertake three years probation, serve 120 days in jail and complete 480 hours of community service for jewelry theft and breaching the terms of her 2007 probation.
Home detention aims to reduce the prison population by allowing non-violent offenders to serve out their sentences in home confinement.
Lohan, who pleaded no contest to stealing a USD 2,500 necklace, had until June 17 to report to the prison but it is thought she wanted to do it sooner rather than later so she can begin shooting her new movie, "Gotti: three Generations".
Lindsay Lohan is reportedly planning to sue the jewellery store that she allegedly stole a necklace from, after it released surveillance footage of the day in question.
TMZ reports that Kamofie & Company sold the distribution rights to the footage - showing Lohan looking at items in the shop - to the AP, which then arranged a deal with Entertainment Tonight to give exclusive rights to air the recording for seven days.
However, Lohan is said to be exploring her legal options, after claiming that the money made from the tape deal - rumoured to be around $40,000 (£24,750) - amounts to profiting from her image.
A representative for Kamofie & Company told the website: "We regret to hear there is trepidation by Miss Lohan in connection with the video.
"We hope that everyone understands that this is beyond our control; the flood of the requests to see this video were simply too overwhelming. It was truly necessary to put it out."
Lohan is currently facing felony grand theft charges over a necklace which the company claims the actress stole from the showroom. Lohan denies the accusation.
Actress Lindsay Lohan has denied reports that she has broken probation terms, stemming from 2007 drunk driving arrest, by going for wild parties.
Lindsay, who is facing another jail spell after being accused of stealing jewellery from a store near her new home in Venice, California, admits that she would never risk another hit on her probation, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"The reports I was at (nightclub) Teddys are inaccurate... I was just at (hotel) Roosevelt to meet Samantha and say happy birthday to a friend. I take my sobriety seriously. Please don't believe this accusations . I know the rules and I wouldn't risk probation ," she wrote on her Twitter page.
LOS ANGELES: Hollywood singer and actress, Lindsay Lohan, has denied allegations of stealing a necklace, claiming that the jewelry store let her borrow the necklace, and her stylist simply failed to return it.
The 24-year old singer and actress could be facing years in prison if she is charged and convicted of stealing a $2,500 "one of a kind" necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store.
As of now, the decision has not yet been made to charge Lohan. "The case remains under review," Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said on Saturday. "When we make a decision, we will let everyone know."
According to police, "Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific area obtained a search warrant on February 1, 2011, for actress Lindsay Lohan's Venice residence, to search for the necklace."
In a statement directed at the media, Lohan's criminal defense attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told People, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."
Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have been offered $500,000 each by Hollywood Boxing Federation promoter to take part in a boxing match.
Federation promoter, Damon Feldman, has singled out Hilton and Lohan as his next two celeb boxing contenders.
Feldman has said he will donate the proceeds to anti-drug and alcohol campaigns and would give them the huge fees for them to give to charity if the reformed party girls - who both have convictions for driving under the influence - agree to step into the ring.
"We're calling it the battle of the bad girls of Hollywood," RadarOnline.com quoted Feldman as saying.
“They would use big pillow-sized boxing gloves. This would be nothing more than a fun match-up, and Paris and Lindsay have both dabbled with boxing training in the past.
"Michael could even help train Lindsay as he is undefeated in Celebrity Boxing!" Feldman added.
Feldman believes the light-hearted match would be the perfect way to strengthen their friendship further for the sake of a good cause.
He told: "This is a perfect way for the two ladies to give back.”
Lindsay Lohan will reportedly attempt to remain sober after her latest rehab stint by moving to a secret location.
The Mean Girls favourite, who is due to exit the Betty Ford centre next week, will allegedly leave her old West Hollywood home for a new residence, where she will live under the supervision of her mother Dina and her two teenage siblings.
A supposed friend of the actress told X17: "Lindsay will be staying at a secret location starting January 4, with her family, mother and siblings. She also has the support of me and her other friends.
"As long as she doesn't fail any tests - and everyone is going to make sure she doesn't - she'll be put on summary unsupervised probation on February 25."
Meanwhile, Lindsay's estranged father Michael Lohan backed the star's decision to ditch her "so-called friends and [old] haunts", but issued a plea to his ex-wife not to damage the troubled 24-year-old further by bringing her into their ongoing feud.
"Another important part of Lindsay's release, if she does spend time with Dina, is that Dina does not put Lindsay in between, or include her, in any of our differences. Lindsay needs two parents who will stand by her and become united rather than two parents who oppose each other."
He added: "To any extent, I'm proud of Lindsay, I'm happy for her and I want her to be happy, as well. Family is the most important thing in recovery."
Seems like Thanksgiving won’t be a happy holiday for Lindsay Lohan, what with the announcement of the rehab she is currently admitted in that she won’t get a free pass to spend time with her family. The almost-Inferno star was asked to stay in rehab instead of roasting and eating turkey with her family in Long Island.
According to a source close to the Lohans, Lindsay is not coming home but her mother, Dina, is still trying to work things out to bring her home. Unfortunately, there seems to be no success on the negotiations. Just a couple of weeks ago, the star was awarded some day passes by the Betty Ford-supervised home situated in Rancho Mirage she is staying on due to her good behavior.
She was able to visit her condo in West Hollywood and was even able to make a photo shoot for a new clothing line she will be advertising. To further prove that she is being a good girl, she has even made some efforts to make peace with her father, Michael Lohan, who was reported to have visited her in rehab for a few times already.
Sadly though, her good deeds were not enough to give her a free ticket to Thanksgiving. Looks like there’s no turkey for you this holiday Lindsay.
Apparently, Lindsy Lohn is beginning to see through her mom, Dina. According to insiders, she began to question her mother’s intentions after she defied her wishes to not appear on the Today Show. Dina ignored Lindsay’s directives and appeared on the show anyway.
This supposedly got Lindsay thinking about her problems and what role her mom, Dina has played in them. Initially, she blamed her dad for all of her issues but slowly she is beginning to see how destructive her mom’s behavior has been as well.
Instead of directing all of her blame at her down, she now believes that both parents are responsible. Lindsay is also beginning to appreciate her dad’s efforts to re-connect with her.
Well, I think that’s great. While Lindsay will eventually have to take responsibility for her behavior, at least she is finally able to see the truth. Both parents have been a negative influence and Dina a huge enabler and media chaser. Perhaps if she puts both on notice, she will be able to reach a place where she can begin to heal and get clean. Good Luck Lindsay.
A New York judge has issued a warrant for Michael Lohan's arrest.
TMZ reports that the warrant, issued on Thursday, stems from a legal case with a Montana woman, who claims that Lohan is the father of her child.
Lohan is required to pay child support to Kristi Kauffman, who sued him in 2008 and eventually won an uncontested judgement when he failed to oppose the paternity claim.
Speaking to the website, Lohan insisted that he hadn't been aware of the warrant, but suspected that it had been issued after he was a day late making his second payment.
He also stated that the matter would be resolved once the money had been transferred.
The matriarch of the Lohan clan may be looking to financially benefit off of her daughter’s trouble, again. Reportedly, she has been shopping a visit of her and her daughter, Lindsay Lohan in drug rehabilitation. She is supposedly looking to get an amount in the high 5-figures.
For that much money she is willing to let the highest bidder video tape the entire visit. If this is true, that is absolutely awful. The willingness to essentially “pimp” ones daughter is incredibly sad.
On the other hand, the family probably doesn’t have any other way to pay their bills. Lindsay hasn’t been working due to her substance abuse problems and hard partying ways. Selling interviews is probably the only way that they can generate income. Rehab is expensive and in this day and age making ends meet is tough as well.
However, even still, this has to have a negative impact on Lindsay and probably contributes to her ongoing problems. It looks like the Lohans need to get a new well-paying gig.
Actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly being treated for cocaine addiction at the Betty Ford Clinic in Los Angeles. She is undergoing a rehab treatment programme as she has a dependency for the Class A drug.
"Lindsay's primary problem is cocaine. She went through a thorough assessment, and it was discovered that she has a high dependence for cocaine," femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying.
Earlier, Lindsay had confessed to experimenting with drugs.
"At this point, Lindsay is at a critical point of her detoxification and recovery, and she is doing well," the source added.
Lindsay, 24, has her own treatment team in the facility which is comprised of a personal physician, nurse, psychologist, primary counsellor, case manager, spiritual care counsellor, family counsellor, dietician, fitness trainer and chemical dependency technician.
After failing two drug tests last month, Lindsay is now due in court Oct 22 for a probation hearing.
The actress, who served 13 days of a 90-day jail term behind bars in July, returned to prison following the failed tests, but ended up spending just a matter of hours behind bars after posting $300,000 bail. She then voluntarily checked into the Betty Ford Clinic.
Rumor has it that Lindsay Lohan is thinking about selling a few of her rehab pictures for fast cash. Because Lindsay’s problems have made it difficult for her to get work, she is feeling the pressure to generate money the best way that they can.
When Lindsay is able to work, she can command a premium amount of cash but at this point, much less money than she could if she sold her photos. Some believe that for the right types of photos, Lohan can fetch up to $100,000.
Rehab and a celebrity lifestyle are costly to attain, not to mention attorney’s fees (it seems like Lindsay is always in court). If she has to support herself and her family, it’s understandable that the pressure might be getting to her, making selling photos of herself pretty tempting.
For those that have been following Lindsay, rehab photos are nothing new. She was photographed at the Cirque Lodge rehab center. I wouldn’t be surprised if those pictures weren’t by “accident.”
Well, selling pictures of oneself may not be the best way to make money but it certainly seems easy. And she’s not naked so, ‘no harm, no foul.’ There are worst ways to generate cash. She’s not really hurting anyone. I’m pretty neutral on this. If she doesn’t make money from these images, someone else will, so I say go for it!
Lindsay Lohan has finally settled on a rehab center. She has checked into the Betty Ford Center. The center is very well respected and is considered to be one of the best rehb programs in the country. It is located in Rancho Mirage, California. Betty Ford treats individuals that are addicted to both drugs and alcohol.
Lohan has been in the center since Monday. According to those close the situation, you will remain there until she has to go back to court for her hearing regarding her most recent probation violation, the two failed drug tests.
Betty Ford, like all of the other rehab centers Lohan has been to, won’t be cheap. It will cost her at least $26,000 for a 30 day stay.
Lindsay won’t be the first famous person to receive treatment at the Betty Ford Center. The center’s past celebrity roster reads like a who’s who of Hollywood. Past patients include Kelsey Grammer, Keith Urban, Elizabeth Taylor, Ozzy Osbourne and Chevy Chase.
After Jamie Spears‘trend, publicity hungry Michael Lohan was confirmed to have filed conservatorship for daughter Lindsay Lohan. Michael was spotted by the paparazzi on his meeting with attorney David Chon last Wednesday outside West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center. According to a source, the two talked about Lindsay, who has just been admitted in a rehab facility in Orange County after being arrested and held in prison for drunk driving.
According to Michael, his main intention is to keep her ex-wife Dina and the business manager of Lindsay, Lou Taylor from taking care of all the affairs of the actress, saying that the two are only using Lindsay for their own benefits. The public is not easily fooled, however, having been known the dark past and anger of Lindsay towards her father. Michael also seems to be anticipating that the judge won’t easily sign up Lindsay over to him but he said he already has two other options to take over his position in case the results of his application turns out negatively.
Michael seems to have got his confidence out of Britney’s dad conservatorship approval. The case between the two in entirely different, however, because Britney has been proven to be really losing her head and her dad, Jamie, is actually a mild-mannered man who never once sought for the attention of the paparazzi or asked for money from her daughter. As for Michael, why don’t you judge yourself as to what the real intentions of this man are?
The last month or so has been a whirlwind for Lindsay Lohan. She managed to get released early from rehab, fail two drug test, got thrown in jail and released. Well, the saga continues.
Word is, Lindsay has re-enrolled in a drug rehab program, this time in Orange County. She has reportedly enrolled for a 90 day stint. But with Lohan, who knows how long she will actually stay put.
If, after October 21, the date of her next hearing in her probation violation case, she gets put in jail for 30 days, it really won’t matter how long she plans on staying in the program. The program would be interrupted because she would have to go to jail.
This latest rehab stay would be her fifth. Needless to say, Lindsay is no stranger to rehab. Hopefully, she will finally get the help that she so desperately needs.
Beyond the money, I hope Lohan turns things around because drug addiction can quickly become a matter of life or death. If she doesn’t do something, things could end very badly for the young starlet.
Lindsay Lohan’s dad is at it again. This time, the person he’s going after, or at least threatening to go after, is his daughter’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley.
You know the lady who just got the judge to overturn Lindsay’s stay in the slammer and who has been representing her for the past few months.
Well, Lindsay’s dad, Michael Lohan, is accusing Shawn Chapman Holley of ruining the Lohan family.
He called Holley’s phone and left a threatening voice mail, stating that he would “dig up dirt” on her and ‘blow her out of the water’. Wow. This is pretty unbelievable if you ask me. In my estimation, Michael Lohan is a bit disillusioned.
Chapman isn’t the person ruining his family, The whole clan appeared to have problems long before she came in the picture to try and help Lindsay untangle a legal mess of her doing. The people to blame for the entire debacle and those that have come before this latest one are the Lohan matriarch and patriarch, Dina and Michael along. And let’s not forget, Lindsay herself.
She is the one choosing to continually use drugs, act uncontrollably and not use the help that has been provided to her. She is in denial and so our her parents. It’s always everyone else’s fault other then Lindsay’s. Until these three get it together, Lindsay is likely to always have problems.
For Shawn Chapman Holley’s part, she’s taking the high road. She has chosen not to press charges at this time.
