Kajol has announced that she is taking a three-year break from acting.
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star has said that her focus is now on bringing up her two children Yug and Nyasa, reports Hindustan Times.
When asked when she would next appear onscreen, the actor said: "I can't think of that until Yug is 3-years-old. My babies are wonderful. They are the most important priority in my life now."
Since becoming a mother, Kajol has accepted only a select number of projects in recent years, including Fanaa, U Me Aur Hum and My Name is Khan.
She will, however, feature alongside husband Ajay Devgan in the new animated release Toonpur Ka Super Hero.
The film releases December 24.

Kajol and Ajay Devgn, the Bollywood couple who are loved by one and all are soon to come in the first ever animation film together.
The movie titled Toonpur Ka Superhero is a mixture of real actors and animated characters, which is something quite new on Indian shores as this combo has never ever been tried in Hindi films before.
The movie Toonpur Ka Superhero will also have Kajol's mom Tanuja playing the role of her reel life mom as well.
This film is estimated to be quite an expensive one and is Ajay Devgn's home production. All hopes are pinned on this project owing to the different take on its basic subject line and idea.
Some years back the couple had come in the film which had Ajay Devgn and Kajol co starring in Ajay's home production was titled Raju Chacha and was largely a very expensive film, but it had slumped at the box office without much ado, which did not leave Ajay and Kajol very happy.
However this time with this movie Toonpur Ka Superhero having animated characters coming besides human actors is going to create quite a furore in the Hindi film market.
Even though Kunal Kohli did attempt to get comic characters in his films like Hum- Tum but it was nothing like this Toonpur Ka Superhero where the interactions of humans and animated characters are going to be the main protagonists - something like that was seen in Hollywood's Who framed Roger Rabbit in the 80's.
So if you love cartoons talking to humans or love to fantasize, this one's for you!

Kajol was blessed by actress Bina Rai, the inspiration behind her latest role in the domestic drama We Are Family.
The actress was given the blessing by director Siddharth Malhotra's late grandmother during a visit to the set, the Hindustan Times has reported.
Speaking to the site, Maholtra said: "Eerily my first shot was on the same floor of Filmistan [studios] where she had shot her two most well-known films Anarkali and Taj Mahal.
"She came back to the same spot at Filmistan after 40 years just to bless me, my film and Kajol. I was her first grandchild and therefore her favourite."
Bina Rai died shortly before production ended on We Are Family, which is a remake of the Julia Roberts film Stepmom.

While in conversation with him, we gradually went on to speak about the dancing talents in Bollywood. And, he bravely claimed, “Kajol is one of the best dancers we have! Nobody has tapped her dancing talent on screen as yet. I have seen her doing the salsa and have to say that she is simply superb. She can do hip-hop, folk, any form of dance with equal ease!” Ajay Devgan, it’s time to make a musical next and get wifey dearest dancing to your tunes all over again!

Fourteen years after it was first released "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" continued its successful run at the box office crossing the 700-week mark. The Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer, which had previously broken the record of "Sholay", to become the longest running film in 2007, has been playing continuously for 700 weeks at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir theatre, creating a record of its own.
The film, directed by Aditya Chopra, starred Shah Rukh and Kajol in a story that featured Indians living outside the country for the first time in a mainstream Bollywood film.
The film a romantic drama, included typical Bollywood elements, but owed its stupendous success to the fresh twist it brought to the boy-meets-girl story. Filmed in London and Punjab, the film is considered one of the best romantic films of Bollywood.
The music of the film composed by Jatin Lalit topped every charts and the movie won 10 Filmfare awards, including best actor and best actress for Shah Rukh and Kajol.

On the occasion of Women's Day, Complete Wellbeing features the popular actress Kajol on their cover page. In the interview Kajol reveals her thoughts on how women are different for men, women's role in the family unit, and what health means to her. Asked about fulfillment, she vehemently declares, "I love my life the way it is".
The effervescent actor gives a unique and little-known insight into what makes her tick and her source of inner strength-a perspective.
Some excerpts from the interview:
What is your perception of your self? Do you see yourself as a happy person? My perception changes daily. On certain days, I am happy, energetic, confident and on some others, I am not. Every day, you eventually strive to be whatever you wish to be. And I think it's an on-going struggle for everybody. Nobody is completely balanced, completely happy or completely sad. I think it's really a struggle every day to be as complete a human being as you can. And isn't that the beauty of life?
What's health to you?To me, mental health and mental peace is more important than physical fitness. If you accept yourself and feel good about it, you will remain fit. Whether you are fat or thin, short or tall, dark or fair-at the end of the day it does not really matter as long as you like yourself, accept yourself. What matters is how you are on the inside. At the core we are all energy. This energy is beyond definitions. It is intangible and cannot be described. As long as we know that this part of us is healthy, we are healthy. That is what I believe is being truly healthy.
Do you mean to say physical attributes don't matter?I think most people are too hard on themselves about their bodies. But I think it's not such a big deal. It's really OK to be a little overweight. You do not have to be a perfect 36-24-36 to feel happy, If you are fat and are happy with yourself, then who says you're fat? Come to think of it, weight is a factor of the gravitational force. If there was no gravity on earth, we would not know the meaning of overweight or underweight.

Kajol is on a weight losing spree, Reason? Her latest project with Karan Johar! The lady who will be starring in My Name Is Khan is doing all things possible to fit the bill and some super sexy dresses.
"She couldn't say no as she plays an NRI woman in the film and as per the look of her character she has to look thin. Hence she had to forego her binging habit and start with a special diet. She is currently in Los Angeles shooting for the film with her two good friends, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, " says a unit hand.
Her instructor is taking care that Kajol includes lots of nuts, especially almonds in her diet. Apart from keeping a tab on the calorie intake, Kajol is sweating it out at the gym too to cut that extra flab.
Interestingly, SRK had stopped working out as his six pack abs look was not required in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
As far as his look in My Name Is Khan is concerned, he plays an NRI Muslim man here and is required to look lean. We hope that the all new lean looking Kajol and Khan create the same on screen magic like their previous films. |

The two top actresses of Bollywood Kajol and Kareena are indeed doing as mentioned in our headlines! Kajol is on a strict diet and Kareena Kapoor has been asked to put on weight. Well, nothing to be surprised about. They are merely following instructions from none other than their producer, Karan Johar!
As is known both Kajol and Kareena are working under the Dharma Productions banner but in two different films. Kajol is doing Karan Johar's MY NAME IS KHAN and Kareena in the Rensil D'Silva directed Karan Johar produced film.
Kajol is scheduled to commence the shooting of Karan Johar's next directorial venture, MY NAME IS KHAN and for that Karan wants Kajol to shed a few kilos to look a part of her character. So he has asked Kajol to go on a strict diet of almonds (!). Surprised? Well, the healthy nut is known to help shed weight in a jiffy. As for Kareena, she has been asked to put on weight for the Rensil D'Silva directed Saif and Vivek starrer. Karan has told her forthrightly that he does not believe in the size zero figure for a Hindi film heroine and has requested Kareena to eat properly and put on a bit of weight.
And people thought becoming an actor was an easy job!

It's a known fact that Kajol has been SRK's lucky mascot ever since the duo shared the screen space in BAAZIGAR (way back in 90's). Whenever this hit jodi of Bollywood came together the film worked wonders at Box–office. Audiences adore seeing their blazing chemistry on–screen even if it is for few seconds. And that is the reason SRK prefers to have Kajol's presence (even in cameos/special appearances) in his movies.
Last she was seen in SRK's home production OM SHANTI OM (but in a special appearance) which again turned a massive hit.
Now that SRK's one more esteemed project RAB NE BANA DI JODI, which is being directed Aditya Chopra and stars newcomer Anuskha Sharma opposite King Khan, is impending. SRK has once again roped in his dear friend and lucky charm Kajol for RAB NE BANA DI JODI. No the bubbly actress is not paired with SRK but only doing a song in the film. If the reports are to be believed than it was none other than ace filmmaker Aditya Chopra's idea to have Kajol's presence in the film.
Reportedly, the song will be shot in Mumbai. And Kajol will appear in one of the verses of a song filmed on Shah Rukh and newcomer Anushka Sharma. The setting of the song will be a Punjabi folk event, and Kajol will appear for few seconds before the song ends.
So all those diehard SRK–Kajol fans can enjoy the glimpse of the jodi once again!
